Building a Self-Care Checklist for Winter
We've made it closer to the end of 2021! How are you feeling babe?
This year has tested our stamina, mental health, and relationships- and we are all collectively exhausted. We are here to help remind you to tune into the joy here despite it all.
We've made it this far, and as a collective we can lean on each other and make it even farther, bringing the sparks of change this year has brought us further into fruition. It's impossible to pour from an empty cup, so this resource is here to help you build out your toolkit for self care. Nourish your spirit, your body, your magic, and your mind. You deserve to find pleasure, you deserve rest, and you deserve all the love you've been pouring out to be poured back into you.
Sustainable self care doesn't have to look like lavish bubble baths every day (although babe, we are NOT going to stop you from doing that!) rather, finding ways to build magic, pleasure, and self care into your daily routine. This practice will look different for everyone! Tune into your body's natural rhythms - when do you feel most energetic? What tasks or practices make you feel curious or excited? Do you like your rituals to be quiet, or do you prefer bopping around with your music turned way up?
Start by building yourself a morning or evening self care ritual.
This can be incorporating one new practice for the next lunar cycle - try it out and see how it makes you feel! Self care ritual ideas include: - a hot beverage in your favorite cup - listening to a morning meditation - stretching - dancing - walking - masturbating - journaling - doing a skincare routine - adornment magic through jewelry or makeup - verbal affirmations in the mirror - an aura spritz before walking out the door for the day, or before laying down for bed at night - anointing with a ritual oil - deep breathing -
Whatever ritual you choose, take time to journal while you're trying it out, incorporating these prompts
-
Today I am grateful for.....
-
One thing that was pleasurable today was....
-
I find my magic by...
Self-care is meant to tend to all parts of you- your emotional, mental, physical, intellectual, magical, and spiritual needs. Take some time to create a winter game plan based on your personal needs for the dark season! Having this list written out will help you create a consistent routine and remind you where to start and what to reach for when you're feeling stuck.
Create a self-care checklist:
- Morning needs (quiet, music, sleep in, wake up early, etc)
- Morning- what would make this moment more pleasurable?
- Emotional check-in (how am i feeling? what do i need? journal pr gratitude practice)
- Physical check-in (stretch, exercise, dance party)
- Intellectual check-in (work/ school/ family self-care needs)
- Mental health check in (what tools can i reach for, call a friend, routine, etc)
- Magical/ Spiritual check in (ritual, tarot, journaling, medicine making)
- Evening needs (quiet, music, sleep early, make art, read, etc)
- Evening- what would make this moment more pleasurable?
